Polka dots exploded out of the shop windows and onto Fifth Avenue last week as Louis Vuitton unveiled their dotty new collection.
The reason?... A collaboration between the fashion powerhouse and the dot obsessed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. From luxurious ready-to-wear to sunglasses, pumps, ballets and the signature lockit, Kusamas signature dots embellish all in pop-art inspired brights of red, yellow and blue paired with black and white.
The 83 year old Kusama, the latest in a line up of artists collaborating for Louis Vuitton, has being painting since her early twenties and has showed her work alongside the likes of Andy Warhols in the 1950's and 1960's. Sharing her vison of the world, her quirky sculpture and breath-taking installations will be transforming seven of the french house's stores around the world this month in celebration of the collaboration. The collection coincides with a Yayoi Kusama retrospect exhibition held at the Whitney in New York City.
We're loving the Chapeau coin purse and the waves rond sunglasses. Which pieces are your must haves?
